INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
1 tablet contains:
Isosorbide mononitrate 20 mg
Long-term treatment of coronary heart disease (circulatory disorders in the myocardium):
Prophylaxis of angina pectoris attacks (cardiac pain):
Post-treatment of myocardial infarction:
Long-term treatment of chronically restricted function of the myocardium (chronic myocardial insufficiency), in combination with cardiac glycosides and diuretics.
The preparation should not be applied in:
Acute myocardial infarction with low filling pressures;
Acute circulatory failure (shock, vascular collapse);
Cases of very low blood pressure unless expressly permitted by the physician.
As a particular precaution, Elantan 20 should not be taken during the first 3 months of pregnancy except on the express instructions of the physician.
Serious side-effects are hitherto unknown when the dosage instructions are adhered to. The (non hazardous) nitrate headache - such as is known for all preparations of this group of substances - can develop.
In the case of patients with circulatory lability, manifestations of collapse can occur when the preparation is first taken. Such manifestations and the nitrate headache can be largely avoided if the treatment is begun with 1/2 tablet Elantan 20 mornings and evenings.
If other kinds of concomitant manifestations should develop during the treatment, the physician concerned is to be consulted.
INTERACTIONS WITH OTHER AGENTS
Simultaneous consumption of alcohol can impair reaction times, e.g. in traffic or during operation of machines. At higher dosage of Elantan 20 with simultaneous administration of blood pressure, lowering medicaments the effect of the latter can be potentiated.
DOSAGE INSTRUCTIONS AND MODE OF ADMINISTRATION
Unless otherwise prescribed, 2 tablets Elantan 20 mg daily after meals, swallowed whole with a little fluid. In case of need, the dosage can be increased to 3 tablets per day (last tablet intake latest 8 p.m).

Medicines should be stored out of the reach of children.
Elantan 20 - for treatment of coronary heart disease.
Elantan 20 is a new development of the isosorbide dinitrate successfully used for decades in the treatment of coronary heart disease and other heart conditions. On ingestion of the latter, Isosorbide mononitrate is released into the organism. The therapeutic benefit of isosorbide mononitrate has been derived from many years of clinical and experimental experience with isosorbide dinitrate.
Elantan 20 has the following advantages for a long-term treatment
a) It possesses an intrinsic prolonged action.
b) It is 100% bio-available.
c) There is no first-pass effect and individual variations of plasma levels are minimal.
As a result of these properties Elantan 20 is suitable for protection of coronary patients against angina pectoris attacks throughout the entire day when taken at appropriate intervals.
Pack of 50 tablets.
